Mission Statement

The Cape Cod Baseball
Club.
Hi…my name is Steve Almonte and there's a couple things
I'd like for you to know about me. First and foremost,
I love baseball. Secondly, I'm a student of the game
and I love teaching what I believe to kids, all ages,
all talent levels, and third, I love Cape Cod. I've
been here since the late 60's and I've traveled a
thousand miles a week off the Cape for the past fifteen
years doing what I do, not believing the Cape Cod
economy could support it. I've waited for many years
for the right opportunity to come along and finally one
has. I now have a home.
My mission is to provide quality baseball and softball
instruction to Cape Cod kids at an affordable price. I
believe that what I have to offer is going to be
attractive to those off the Cape as well. I want to
create a club atmosphere with membership into a place
where people feel they belong and feel comfortable, the
most motivating and positive athletic environment ever.
It is through competition in sports and games that
children and young adults gain the skills needed to cope
with and overcome our imperfect human condition.
I want to create a baseball hotbed, where colleges and
the professional ranks look for and find real
ballplayers. As Honus Wagner said, "There ain't much to
being a ballplayer, that is, if you're a ballplayer". I
also want to create a place for kids to hang out and not
work at anything. These things will take time, and I'm
in it for the long haul. I am dependent upon other
people feeling the same way I do.
I gotta have the ocean and a hand-picked quohog dressed
with lemon, ketchup and tabasco. But I also have to
have a fastball in on the hands, a fisted chopper, and a
one-handed dish to first…one out. Please come by and
introduce yourself. I'd love to meet you and hopefully
help you in and out of the game of baseball. Thanks for
reading…

Quote of the Month
|
|
"Good Character is more to be praised than outstanding talent.
Most talents are to some extent a gift. Good
character, by contrast, is not given to us. We
have to build it piece by piece by thought, choice,
courage and determination."
